Highest ever daily winning score | Cash Till | 43 points |
Cash Till achieved 43 points on the last day of the 2005 tour at Houlgate. Incidentally he also scored 42 points on the last day at Clecy to win one year as well. Darrell came very close at Val Andre with 42 points (off a 10 handicap) in 2009. |
Best ever final eclectic score 3 / 6 | Porky | 31 under |
The previous record stood at 29 under par and was achieved on three separate occasions by Cash Till, Tippy and Harry. Porky smashed this with an incredible 31 under in 2004. |
Best ever final eclectic score 4/7 and 5/8 | Cash Till | 35 under |
2006 was the first time we have tried 4 from 7, so strictly speaking, not a record, more of a standard to beat next time. TC achieved 39 under on a five from 8 to count in 2007. |
Worst ever final eclectic score to enter the Hall of Shame | The Baron | 1 over |
The Baron finished in last place on the 1999 tour at a paltry 1 over |
Most consecutive holes played without a blob | Clarkie | 70 holes |
(A blob is a score of zero points on a hole). Tippy managed 57 consecutive holes on the 2003 tour. Clarkie has set a new standard on the 2004 tour. He made a blob on the 18th at Dinard on Day 2 and then made it all the way through Le Tronchet, Dinard and Freslonnierre finally succumbing on the 17th at Granville. There were one or two dodgy moments that nearly saw the end of the run such as getting down in two for one point from the middle of a bush at the back of the 10th green at Freslonnierre and holing a severe 20 footer down hill left to right on the second at Granville. This excellent performance sets a new record. The best we could do on the 2005 tour was Harry who only managed 38 holes and the best in 2006, 2007 and 2008 was Clarkie with 46 holes. Neal came very close in 2009 but, by taking a blob on the 16th at Des Ormes, he managed just 69 holes. One short. How very irritating that must have been. But we were all very sympathetic. |
Most Consecutive blobs | Cash Till | 8 |
4 consecutive blobs has now been managed four times. Cock in 1998 tour, Cash Till in 2002 and 2005, and Short Stuff in 2005. Cash Till blobbed the last seven holes at Hayling Island in 2005 and the first hole at Des Ormes the next day. |
Most blobs achieved on one tour | Short Stuff | 32 |
This is a record unlikely to be beaten. The tour consists of six rounds of golf, or 108 holes. On the 2000 tour Short Stuff blobbed 32 holes. Amazingly he never managed four in a row. The highest total number of blobs achieved on one tour by all of the players combined is 119, also from the 2000 tour. (Well, it did rain quite a bit) The 2005 tour achieved the lowest total so far at just 76 for the rounds played in France whilst the 2006 tour saw 109 blobs. Footnote, in 2007 we played 8 games and Cock managed 37 blobs but for the first six games he totalled only 29. Just three short of the record. |
Tour record for most four pointers ( the total for everyone) | 2003 tour | 22 |
The record stands at 22 and was achieved on the 2003 tour. In 2004 the total was only 7 and in 2005, 16 in 2006 and in 2007. the 2008 tour had 12 players on it, but the total of 4 pointers was only 17. Neal and Cock had 3 each, Shorts, Darrell, Cash and Porky 2 each, and 1 each for Ian, TC, Winnie. NOTE: 2008 saw the first 5 pointer scored. Short Stuff had come last the day before and so had an additional shot for the 3rd round at Dinard. This meant that he had two shots at the short par three 12th hole. Short Stuff hit a majestic 8 iron to 12 feet and calmly strolled in the putt for a 2 net 0 and five stableford points. |
Most times a golf ball was struck | Narrowboat 2008 | 780 |
Quite a complex one to work out as you have to take all the scores, work out the handicaps and gross it all up. Despite some valiant efforts, the Baron still holds the average per hole record from the 2001 tour. He hit the golf ball 658 times. An average of 6.09 times per hole. In 2007 Cock had a go at this. Over eight rounds of golf, he hit the ball 767 times. An average of 5.33 times per hole. In 2008 Narrowboat struck the ball 780 times, an average of 5.41 per hole. Compared to the winner who struck it just 653 times, an average of 4.53 |
Best Par Threes total for the tour | Narrowboat | 56 |
T.C. achieved 52 points on the 2000 and 2005 tours, Short Stuff helds the record from the 2004 tour with a total of 53. Because tours have been of different lengths (6 rounds and 7 rounds) we are now only showing the totals for the six rounds in France. Winnie and Narrowboat achieved a total of 75 points for the 8 round tour, Winnie had 55 points for the six rounds in France but Narrowboat now holds the record with 56. |
Best Par Fives total for the tour | Clarkie | 54 |
Clarkie achieved 54 points on the 2003 tour. Tippy achieved 57 on the 2005 tour but over eight rounds. Counting only the rounds played in France this figure drops to 48. |
Least able to participate at all | Clarkie | Clecy 1996 |
Cash Till did manage to complete his round at Des Ormes in 1997. A very heavy night on the boat resulted in him still being very hung over the next morning. He was escorted around in a buggy and had to be woken up to play most of his shots. Bit subjective this one but unquestionably Clarkie was unable to continue after two holes at Clecy in 1996. He threw up on the third tee and had to helped back into the buggy where he passed out. His caring partners that day just left him asleep and continued with the round. Fortunately for him, rain stopped play that day after just five holes and the round was abandoned. Later that afternoon, after a great Clecy lunch and the unwise purchase of a pink jumper, he had recovered enough to shoot 36 points and win the day. The sun came out and the pink jumper only made it as far as the bin on the fourth tee. |
| Shortest time that a new item of clothing was used | T.C. | Val Andre 2009 |
| The pink jumper above held this record since 1996, but in 2009, TC bought a new white peak cap from the pro shop, walked to the first tee, took a couple of practice swings, decided he didn't like it, and threw it in the bin before a shot was struck. A new record. |
Best ever Shot of the Day | Cash Till | Omaha Beach 1993 |
This was later abandoned although, technically, it is still open as a category. It is unlikely that we shall ever witness something better than the shanked shot by Cash Till. It occurred on the third hole of Omaha Beach. The ball shot over the out of bounds fence, struck a moving bread van and rebounded back into play. (see feedback page where there is a note from the driver of the van) |
Best ever consecutive Nine Holes | Cash Till | 25 points |
This can be any nine hole stretch and can include holes from different rounds (e.g. last four of one round and the first five of the next). 24 points has been achieved twice (Short Stuff at Dinard in 2006 most recently) but the record stands at 25 points and was achieved by Cash Till on the 2003 tour. From the 8th to the 16th at Clecy on the last day. This category has now been abandoned for a while as a prize but the record will continue to be monitored. |
Longest Putt ever sank | Clarkie | Caen 1999 |
Clarkie achieved a true monster on the 9th hole at Caen in 1999. It was at least 40 yards and was moving like an express train when it hit the back of the hole, jumped high into the air and disappeared. |
Longest shot ever holed | Tippy | Brocton 2006 |
Tippy holed a full 9 iron from around 120 yards for birdie on the 5th at Brocton in 2006. Sadly, no shot, so just three points. |
Worst ever score in an individual round | The Baron / Cash Till | Freslonnierre 2000 and Clecy 2009 |
The Baron once scored just 11 points at Freslonierre in 2000 and we thought this would never happen again. In 2009 Cash Till was a bit of a mess on the last day in France and managed only 11 points around Clecy. Closest to them is Short Stuff who accumulated only 13 around St Jean de Monts and Cock who managed just 15 points around La Bretesche in 2007. |
Total for the 18th Hole | Winnie | 21 |
Again the basis for the scoring has changed with more rounds being played. Harry held this record of just 13 points from 2001 and Ian made 14 points in 2005 but both were over seven rounds. The record above is for eight rounds. (It would still have been a record 18 points though over seven rounds) |
Other Interesting Statistics: The 2004 tour saw a new record for a final score (using the three from six method) of 31 under par. TC's score of 17 under was in last place. This same score of 17 under was the winning score on the 2001 tour. The 2006 tour used a 4 from 7 method and the new winning score was 35 under. The 2007 tour used a 5 from 8 method and the winning score was 39 under the 2008 tour used a 5 from 8 method and the winning score was 28 under |
